Swimming Teacher Foundation Certificate The Swimming Teacher Foundation Certificate is the perfect first step into an enormously rewarding & exciting career as a Swimming Teacher. This four day, in-person course combines theory with practical & provides you with a minimum of 10 hours of in & out of the water practical experience, giving you the very best start in your new role. The Swimming Teacher Foundation Certificate qualification is endorsed by UKCoaching & 1st4sport, which are leading providers in the fitness & coaching sector. With professional endorsement providing additional reassurance around the quality of the training, you’ll be taking a positive step towards becoming a knowledgeable, capable & trusted Swimming Teacher, where you aren’t just doing a job, you are giving people one of the most valuable life skills they could ever learn. What makes this different to other courses out there is that the focus is not on pushing children through stages swimming, but to encompass every type of swimmer, young to old, different needs to different abilities & working with the swimmer to develop their best swimming that they are capable of. Upon completion of this course: You will be able to introduce non-swimmers to the water environment through water confidence games, drills & skills. You will be able to introduce the initial swimming strokes & techniques to non-swimmers to enable them to start their swimming journey. You will be able to progress non-swimmers to beginners & beginners to improvers following a stages model up to stage 5. You will be able to create fun, interactive & progressive lessons for non-swimmers, beginners & improvers. You will understand the difference between child swimmers & adult swimmers; & how lessons will need to be structured differently. You will understand the basic principles associated with in-water sessions & how the water’s hydrostatic properties can affect, help & hinder your swimmers. You will be able to offer adaptations & modifications where possible to enable a positive, safe & productive swimming lesson. You will have knowledge of venue safety procedures & operating procedures to ensure you work safely & in accordance with health & safety. Pre-requisites: Be at least 16 years of age. Hold a current Safeguarding certificate (done in the last 12 months). Hold a current First Aid certificate (done in the last 12 months). Swimming Teacher Advanced Certificate Following on from the Swimming Teacher Foundation Certificate, this qualification provides you with the essentials to take your swimmers further in their swimming & skills. Working with those on the stages pathway to get them from stage 5 to competition level, as well as being able to run the Rescuers program, which allows swimmers to learn how to rescue themselves & others should the situation occur. This qualification also goes into detail on the other normally unheard of strokes – did you know there are around 12 swimming strokes?! The Swimming Teacher Advanced Certificate qualification is endorsed by UKCoaching & 1st4sport, which are leading providers in the fitness & coaching sector. With professional endorsement providing additional reassurance around the quality of the training, you’ll be taking another positive step towards your Swimming Teacher career. Upon completion of this course: You will be able to continue swimmers journeys from stage 5 upwards to competition level. You will be able to teach the different dives. You will be able to teach the different wall turns. You will be able to teach the different competitive starts. You will be able to teach different self-rescue skills. You will be able to teach different rescue skills to help others in need. Pre-requisites: Be at least 17 years of age. Hold a current Safeguarding certificate (done in the last 12 months).
